Mount Congreve Gardens

Home to one of the largest collections of plants in the world, and gifted to the nation by Ambrose Congreve upon his death aged 104. Our approach to this ‘Great Garden of the World’ was to blend the flamboyant character of Congreve with botanical interpretation to create an entirely new and award winning garden experience.

Imagemakers were appointed to work on a €7m renovation of this legendary garden, designing and delivering site-wide orientation and interpretation.

The foundation of our work was a waymarking and orientation scheme designed with Landscape Architects Paul Hogarth Associates. Together we were able to develop a high impact visitor reception and introductory exhibition in the beautifully restored House, and a range of storytelling and multi-sensory installations throughout the Gardens.

We also designed a highly flexible brand for the attraction and a wider visual identity carried across all comms platforms.

We worked very closely with the client team throughout the process – from initial interpretive planning workshops to design development, production, content creation, fabrication and installation.

Since the works have been completed the gardens have received international recognition, cited as a Garden of the World worth Travelling For in 2024. As well as winning a number of prestigious awards including an International Garden Tourism Award.
