Gilbert White’s &
The Oates Collection

Adventurous spirits
& inspiring journeys

Gilbert White’s home tells the story of his life-long and ground-breaking investigation into the natural world. Hosted within the house are The Oates Collections that celebrate two very different explorers of the natural world, Antarctic explorer Captain Lawrence Oates and his uncle, British naturalist, Frank Oates.

Imagemakers’ first commission resulted in the extremely successful redisplay of the Lawrence Oates galleries, featuring archive footage and artefacts from the Terra Nova expedition. Imagemakers was again chosen to work with the Museum Trust to tell the story of Frank Oates’ adventurous life and travels in Central America and Africa and to create introductory interpretation for visitors to this beautiful 18thCentury house.
