Oak Apple Day at the Royal Hospital Chelsea
More formally known as Founder’s Day, this special event in the Royal Hospital Chelsea’s
calendar is a celebration of its founding by Charles II in 1692. All of the Pensioners were on
parade and were reviewed by His Majesty the King of the Belgians who, in his speech, spoke
of the close and long–term ties between the UK and Belgium.
The Imagemakers team is currently developing the interpretation scheme for the new visitor
centre that will be housed in the historic Soane Stable Block and we were kindly invited to
attend. It was a most enjoyable, if a little hot, day and we were treated to a spectacular
parade, some great live music and the good company of the Royal Hospital staff.
