Dialect and Heritage Project branding
Do you say ferntickles, murfles, brunny-spots or freckles?
It’s been a pleasure working with the team at Leeds University to develop the visual identity for the Dialect and Heritage Project.
The project centres on the Leeds Archive of Vernacular Culture (LAVC). The LAVC is a unique and nationally important multi-media archive housed in Special Collections in the Brotherton Library. At the heart of the collection is the Survey of English Dialects – an unrivalled survey of language use in England (with a small number of locations also surveyed in Wales), captured between the 1950s and 60s.
You’ll be able to see the identity rolled out on temporary exhibitions and events hosted by five partner museums over the summer:
Avoncroft Museum
Dales Countryside Museum
Museum of East Anglian Life
Ryedale Folk Museum
Weald and Downland Living Museum
