Built to Last

It’s not only the narrowboats on the beautiful Kennet and Avon Canal that are built to last; the interpretation is too!

Way back in 2002, Imagemakers created a suite of installations along the 87-mile waterway for what was then British Waterways (now the Canal and River Trust). This included waterside installations whose structures echo the lock gates and feature beautiful reconstruction illustrations as well as tactile and interactive features. The scheme has been immensely popular with visitors enjoying the Canal, so much so that the Trust came back to us in 2020 to revamp the scheme using their new graphic identity. With the new panels in place and some minor repairs done to the interactives, the installations should be good for at least another decade! Just goes to show that well-designed and made interpretation can last a long time and provide great value for money.
