Buxton Pump Room

We recently completed the first phase of the project at Buxton when the town’s historic Pump Room re-opened its doors to visitors.

The latest incarnation of this 1894 building, commissioned by the 8th Duke of Devonshire will see it become Buxton’s TIC, a versatile meeting space for presentations and heritage talks, as well as the start and end point of the Buxton Crescent Heritage Experience which is due for completion later in the year.

Interpretation in the Pump Room tells the stories of the building and Buxton’s renowned Well Women. It also introduces the fascinating topic of how the social and cultural heritage of this Derbyshire Town, nestled in the Peak District, has been shaped by its thermal spring waters.
